…but I want to change. So, I’m resolving (no, not a New Year’s resolution, just resolving) to start using my blog not only as an outlet for my random mind, but also as a tool to share some of the things God has taught or is teaching me. Specifically, I’ll be trying to share some thoughts on leadership, music, worship, and the church. Sure, there will still be the pointless ramblings from time to time, but I’m hoping to make this more beneficial and as well.

One of the things God has been doing in me in the last couple years is challenging me on my view of the “priesthood of believers”. I am now coming to understand that everyone in the church is a leader in one way or another, and everyone in the church is responsible for each other. Because of that, leaders need to be constantly thinking of reproducing and developing leaders. In some small way, I am hoping for my blog to turn into resource, a very small resource, but a resource nonetheless for those leaders that I may be able to help in their growth process. I will be the first to admit, I don’t have a lot to offer, but I’ll be obedient in offering what I do have. I hope it helps.

So, real content will be coming soon. Very soon.

here’s a story…

Once upon a time long, long ago in a land far, far away, there was a lady and a singer. While in the weekend gathering of a church, the lady filled out a comment card that said “The singer talks too much. He is almost enough reason to go to another church.” Upon receiving the comment card, the singer felt a little sting from the aforementioned comment…and then he laughed and laughed…and then went on to talk to someone else for a long, long time.

the end.

I found a shnazzy little video camera on the stage and decided to test it out. wasn’t quite sure who it belonged to but male curiosity wouldn’t let me put it down without pushing buttons. this is what happened when joe, mark, and I decided to push the aforementioned buttons.

would anybody like to donate to “phil’s guitar fund” so I can get 1 (or all) of these??? yes, I understand that I’m in the middle of an African adoption process that will cost about $25,000 and I have no actual plans of spending money on anything else besides that for the next…oh…20 years!!!

But seriously, they are awefully pretty (and the fact that they sound amazing is pretty nice as well)

Gibson DG335
Aaaah, the beautiful Gibson DG335 - probably on the top of my dream list.

black penguin
Yeeah, the Gretsch Black Penguin - this is the guitar that gets all the sweet Hillsong United tones.

rickenbacker 360
Mmmm, the classic Rickenbacker 360 - I played it once and fell in love.

Fender 72 Deluxe
Oooooh, the Fender 72 Telecaster Deluxe - Joel has one of these and I giggle like a school-girl everytime I get to touch it.

Vox AC15 combo
Zoww - all the guitars above would sound screaminly beautiful going through this Vox AC15.

Dr Z Mini-Z head
Ayeee - the Dr. Z Mini-Z amp sounds like it would be perfect for my church use!

Martin 000-15
Eeeee, the Martin 000-15 - it doesn’t look like much, but it sounds gorgeous!

Gibson SJ-200
Wooo, the Gibson SJ-200 - probably the most beautiful acoustic tone I’ve ever heard when plugged in.

I guess while I’m dreaming, I’ll throw in one of these…
rhodes
the illustrious Rhodes Mark I Stage Piano - enough beautiful twinkle to last a lifetime.

So, thank you for indulging me in my musical dreams. Of course, if you ask me a year from now, almost everything on this list is likely to be different.

You may now continue rolling your eyes and saying “pfffff”.

So, lately I’ve been reminded how much Gibson is clearly MY son. For example:

- he loves movies, especially at “movie feeters” (movie theaters)
- he makes weird faces all the time, especially in pictures
- he belly laughs at his own farts
- he loves his bed
- he doesn’t know a stranger… everybody is his friend.
- he never stops talking
- he craves Skyline and Bill’s Donuts
- when pooping, he demands a guitar magazine as his reading material of choice
- he has to bob his head when jammin’ to his tunes
- last but not least, he loves his mom

This kid is clearly MY son…poor guy.

a few random thoughts while eating lunch at Schlotzsky’s…

- I miss the Cracked Pepper chips…now I have to eat freakin’ Sour Cream & Onion.

- It drives me crazy when singers can’t choose between “head voice” and “chest voice” (airy, breathy vs. strong, pronounced) and just decide to go back and forth for the entire song. For example, any song by Fergie or Jessica Simpson. (this thought brought to you by pop-radio playing over the dining room speakers.)

- Why do people feel ok with ordering food “to go” and then sitting down to eat in the restaurant?

- Why are there so many old people here? I guess they really like their pastrami on rye.

- I love hot sauce…most any red hot sauce I really enjoy. Not a big fan of the green ones, but, oh mama, I love me some hot sauce.

- There are a lot of inter-racial families in here…and that makes me happy. I can’t wait till I get to experience that!

- I really hope (but doubt) that naivete is to blame for why some ladies have very little discretion in their clothing choices.

- The thought above really REALLY reminds me why I love my wife so much!

- There is still goop on my shirt from the ultra-sound I had today…YES, it’s true, I’m pregnant. Ok, actually, it was an ultra-sound on my liver. But there is goop on my shirt nonetheless.

- REO Speedwagon wins for most inspirational pop-band of the 80’s. If they wrote the soundtrack to “Beauty and the Geek”, all the pretty people would fall in love with the nerdy people. (again, this thought brought to you by pop-radio being played in the dining room)

- The thought above is proof that I have no control over the random thoughts that enter my brain space.

- It’s a beautiful day today. Why didn’t I sit outside? idiot.

- My belly is full and my head is empty…of random thoughts. Now I’m done.

- Amber and I just watched the season finale episodes of the Office and Scrubs. (thanks hulu.com) The Office episode was tremendous…I hate Jan. Scrubs was ridiculous…I’m so disappointed.
- I’m so glad we taught Jon Foreman’s “White as Snow” this weekend at Apex!
- God is continuing to blow our minds with this adoption! What a privilege!
- I am loving the I John series “Undiluted” that Rob is teaching at Apex. That’s a little book with BIG words.
- Amber and I have a date night on Sunday and we’re going to go see a movie. It’s between Indiana Jones, Prince Caspian, and Ironman. Which one should we see?
- Go here to see some photos of the Adoption Benefit Concert a few weeks ago. Big thanks to Emily constantly carrying a camera.
- I’m probably going to be playing some acoustic shows this summer at local coffee shops. The first one on the calendar is July 19th at Winan’s (near Dayton Mall). Matt Thornburg will be playing a small set that night as well. You should come!
- I’m tired. I’m going to bed now. G’night.Buy phentermine online

I can’t even explain how perfect the timing is for a family vacation!!! We’ve been running ragged for about the last month and we are so ready for a good break in this crazy pace.

We’re loading up the van and heading to the beaches of Destin, FL. Every year for the past few years, Amber’s parents have paid for the whole family to go down to FL together. All we have to pay for is gas and food. Yeah, that’s a sweet gig! This year, we even get a condo across the street from the beach…all to ourselves!

So bring on the sunshine, sand, ocean waves, swim trunks, sun screen and sunburn! We couldn’t be more ready! :o)

And just think…this time next year, we’ll be taking another child with us on family vacation…oh man, I can’t wait!!!Lowest prices viagra
