I’m that guy that can’t stop talking about his kid. I’m that guy that if I had pictures in my wallet, I’d definitely pull them out and show everyone. I am that guy who is ok with being looked at as an “old family guy”.
Here’s a few more pics for your enjoyment…well, actually, my enjoyment…but hopefully you like them too.

Seriously, can a kid be any cuter than this??? I think not.
Luke 5 - 1One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret,[a]with the people crowding around him and listening to the word of God, 2he saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. 3He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.
4When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down[b] the nets for a catch.”
5Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
Amber, Gibson, and I just read this passage last night. Although this passage talks about the supernatural powers of Jesus, this is one of those passages that, at it’s root level, is about lordship. I heard a sermon on this passage a couple years ago by Bill Hybels and it has definitely stuck with me. Even as I read the passage last night, parts of that sermon popped into my head. It was called “Bias to action”.
Here’s what’s interesting - If I were there, I’d be thinking - Jesus isn’t the fisherman, he’s a carpenter. What does he know about fishing technique? You can even see Simon (Peter) battle with that - he says “master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything.” But then he follows it with the kicker “but because You say so, I will…” Let me emphasize it a little - “but because YOU say so, I will…” I’m so challenged by that phrase. Will I let my doubt, worry, pride, knowledge, etc. hinder the lordship of my life that belongs only to Jesus? Simon Peter, even though he was a very experienced fisherman - even though he was exhausted - even though he had tried everything possible - he still gave Jesus the lordship of his life. Specifically, he gave Jesus the lordship over his job, his actions, and his pride.
over his job - He was a fisherman. That’s what he did all his life. But he gave it up to the Lord in the very moment that he said “but…”
over his actions - He was exhausted. He’d been working all night and caught nothing. But he gave that to the Lord when he said “I will”
over his pride - as I said before, Jesus was a carpenter, not a fisherman. Experiencially, Simon Peter knew what he was talking about. He probably had complete knowledge of that particular lake. There was also crowd on the shore listening as Jesus said this. Simon Peter could have been embarassed or offended that some carpenter was trying to tell him how to fish. But he gave all that to the Lord when he said “because You say so…”
“but because YOU say so, I will…”
Lord, let that be the phrase the directs my life, my family, my ministry, my actions, my pride, and everything in between.
somehow, in the midst of the HUGE light of God’s presence and action, the dark can seem to be so encompassing
God can do amazing things, and yet we still feel tugs from the old nature, drawing us to gaze upon darkness, instead of basking in the light
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Colossians 3:1,2

This was taken about 20 minutes after Gibson was born. It was the first time that I had the privilege of holding my son’s hand.
