This past week I, along with Rob, Jesse, Brian, and Joe - had the pleasure of serving alongside some great people at the Crossings on Mission camp at NKU. What a great time! All the counselors there were amazing! Those people are passionate about seeing teenagers engage God…not just know about Him.
Since it was on a college campus, we got the pleasure of eating cafeteria food again…oh boy, how I had forgotten. There’s great delight to be had in the variety of edible options, but there is great sorrow to be had in the digestion thereof. hah.
I learned this week that Jesse and Brian are an insane combination…I’m not joking, literally insane. I also learned, once again, that Joe is one of the funniest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. Each night, we did “interesting facts with Joe”, in which we delved into the vast oddity that is Joe Strychalski. 6 toes, milkless cereal, uniquely crafted hands, phobias of worms and tickling, thrify occupation, and impressions of a reverend made for quite a hit. For those of you who have had the pleasure of seeing Joe impersonate the reverend Jimmy Cook, you know that the word “HAH!” has a whole new meaning. Also, let me just tell you, that chocolate covered donuts and Pringles are a GREAT combo at 1:30 in the morning…even if you are bitter that Taco Bell was closed. We even got surprised with free tickets to Kings Island on Thursday. We only got to stay for 3 hrs…but we got to ride the Beast, Vortex, and Son of Beast. It was badness.
Not only did I get to do what I love, meet great people, and have a great time; but I also got to witness a new sister being born! A 15 yr. old girl, named Audrey, realized she’d never asked Jesus to be the Lord of her life and on Tuesday night around 9:00pm, right in front of all the other campers…she met HIM in a whole new way! I can’t believe I get invited to see this kind of stuff! I am truly blessed.
After a great week like that, I now get the pleasure of spending all of next week with Abi, Crystal, and Ethan way out yonder. Pray that we would submit to God and that we would open our minds to learn all that God has for us on this trip.
Even though I had a great time at camp, and am greatly looking forward to this conference…I am going to (and do already) miss Amber and Gibson. Since Gib has been born, our family has been so much closer. This next week is going to be hard…I’m already excited about returning. He’s gonna be so big when I get back. Amber and Gibson, I love you so much! See you soon.
Ok, I’m out like the “husky” kid in dodgeball…
