September 2006

- Maya is getting prettier everyday (see below). I love being a dad!
- Abi had to have emergency surgery to remove her appendix…poor girl. Show her some love at her xanga or myspace.
- Full Throttle Fury is the best energy drink I’ve tried…I think I’m done with my experiment…those things are expensive. Not to mention, everytime I go to try a new one, I see 5 more that I’ve never tried. I’ve gone through 8 or 9 of them and that’s enough for me. Plus, they’re kind of addicting…like coffee (or so I’ve heard).
- Gibson’s wearing rock’n'roll t-shirts and Vans now - that’s my boy!
- Amber is such a good mom! I’m blown away by her strength in that area!
- I really like Marion’s Pizza…or should I say Piazza. I’ve had it twice in the last week.
- This will probably be it’s own post soon, but I believe that I am part of the most unknowingly arrogant generation ever.
- The writer of Hebrews told me something sweet this week - That the Redeemer is not ashamed of those He has redeemed because they are His family.
- ok, here’s a few pics of my too-cool-for-school kids.

So I’ve been on a bit of an energy drink kick lately. Not necessarily because I like them so much, but because I’m so curious about them right now. Here’s why - 3 weeks ago, Dr. Jeff Cook, of Cedarville fame, recomended that I try Red Bull when I was struggling with extreme tiredness one morning. See, the problem was that my son decided he wanted to be awake from 1:00am - 6:00am which meant I only got about 3 hrs of sleep. Normally, that wouldn’t be all that bad…but this just so happened to be the weekend that I was preaching at Apex. I’m not really a coffee guy so Jeff said “man, you need some Red Bull!” I immediately thought “Red Bull??? Isn’t that for 19 year old club kids???” He told me that he uses it quite often for his early morning classes so I thought, why not, might as well give it a shot. Well, it worked wonderfully! I felt refreshed and awake…without the sweaty jitters that I get from coffee. So ever since that day, I’ve been conducting my own energy drink experiment. I’ll call it “Project Pick-Me-Up”. I want to try all of them and see which one works best and tastes best. Having a new baby at home has given me a great platform to try these…I tend to be running on little sleep and am often in need of some pick-me-up juice. Here’s what i’ve come to so far:

full throttle Full Throttle - best taste so far. Kinda like fruit punch with a zing. Also, this one seems to work the quickest as far as being rejuvinating and helping with energy. The cans make me laugh though…feel like I’m drinkin’ a tall boy.
amp Amp - 2nd best taste. It tastes a lot like Mt. Dew. I was pretty tired when I tried this one so I’m not really sure how quickly it worked. Either way, it was good.
red bull Red Bull - a close 3rd. To quote my bro, Red Bull tastes like “liquid Smarties”…and it definitely worked pretty quickly. I noticed a big change in my energy level within minutes.
monsterMonster - not gross, but definitely not good. I’ve tried 2 or 3 of the different flavors and none of them were worth remembering.
rockstar Rockstar - by far, the worst one I tried. I was determined to finish it because I was so tired…but it was a struggle just to swallow it down. It was disgusting.

So far, Full Throttle, Amp, and Red Bull are the only ones I’d recommend. I’ve still got more to try so I’ll update you when I get to those. Any recommendations???

[You may see this as usesless info and a waste of your reading time…and I would agree…but you’re the sucker who kept reading. HAH!!!]
