Joel had a great idea for a post…and in true blogging form, I’m stealing it. Here’s what he had to say…
…there are a small amount of songs in the world that grab our attention and hold it. He [David Crowder] elluded to that one song that comes on just as you are getting ready to get out of your car that causes you to pause for the next 4:38 listening, dancing, singing and/or plain mesmorized by its sounds. I thought this was funny at first, but realized there are indeed songs that do this to me. I can’t explain it. All I know is that he’s correct.”
Here’s some of the tunes that keep me glue’d:
- Lovely by Jason Morant - this song nails me every time. it’s written from God’s perspective to His struggling children. absolutely gorgeous musically, but lyrically it’s very gripping. “…and I will do, and have done, anything to have you again, my love, to have you again…”
- Amsterdam by Coldplay - this song is what hooked me on Coldplay. I liked their radio stuff and then I heard this song and was hooked…especially on their live album.
- Rescue is Coming by David Crowder Band - such an intriguing sound from the start and a great song of hope.
- Come Awake by David Crowder Band - this one is mainly because of the melody to lyric combo…if you know the song then you understand what I’m sayin’. “you are not the only one who feels like the only one”
- The Best is Yet to Come by Faded Me - love the sound of this song, but of course, my brother being the writer probably helps as well.
- Trust Me by The Fray - beautifully put together song with such a unique voice. “we’re only taking turns holding this world”
- There is No One by Jason Morant - this is probably my favorite praise song. I think God draws me to Himself EVERYTIME I hear this song.
- Cautioners by Jimmy Eat World - this song hooks me because of the interesting rhythms and progressions…from the first 4 bars of the drum beat, you’re just curious about what’s coming next.
- Tears of the Saints by Leeland - in my opinion, there is no better “great commission” song. I’m challenged every time I hear it. I also love pretty much every other song by this guy, but specifically this one gets me everytime.
- Chaos by Mute Math - I saw them play this song on the Craig Ferguson show and it was one of the most fun live performances I’ve ever seen. Been hooked ever since.
- The Shadow Proves the Sunshine by Switchfoot - the title was enough for me to like it, but the song great both lyrically and musically.
Those are just some of what could be a VERY long list. yeah, I likey muy mucho…
