So, I’ve never been into American Idol before. Serioulsy, I can count on one hand the amount of episodes I’ve seen of the first 5 seasons. But this season is different. I’ve been hooked. When I was sick, I had nothing else to do but watch some of the AI auditions. There were a couple standouts that made me want to see how they did in Hollywood. Then of course, of my fav’s in Hollywood, I had to watch the ones that made the top 24. I know, it’s sad. To be completely honest, there are 3 reasons that I kept coming back for the new episodes:
1. Sean Michel
Fidel Castro look-alike. Great songwriter whose songs are full of scripture. His first CD was made as a benefit for his mission trip to Namibia. Seriously, check him out - you’ll encounter Jesus through his music.
He was unfortunately sent home during Hollywood week. \

2. Chris Sligh
the chubby guy with a BIG voice and a great sense of humor. I liked him from the start because of his jokes like “I’m just on American Idol cause I want to see David Hasslehoff cry” I later found out that he is a worship leader in South Carolina.

3. Phil Stacey
the navy guy who missed his daughter’s birth to audition. He also is a Christian (graduate of Lee University and currently getting a Masters from Liberty).

It’s cool to see some good Christian musicians on TV…and American Idol is quite an unlikely avenue, but I’m glad to see it regardless!

Today marks the 5th anniversary of my marriage to Amber Lee Wing (formerly Stenger).

Sometimes 5 years seems really long, other times it seems really short, but what a time it’s been!!!
Amber, I love you! I’m blessed to walk each day with you. If it’s even possible for 2 people to be happier, I’m sure we’ll find out in our next 5 years.

The men of Apex staff have declared today to be called Man-entines Day. We decided to celebrate with much laughter, grunting, and barbecued meat.
I implore you, men, go celebrate today with your buddies! Change the intent of this day forever. Let the cheerful shouts of “HAPPY MAN-ENTINES DAY!!!” flow forth from your food-filled mouths. Let the smell of smoked pork exude from your pores and when a woman asks “what’s that smell?” answer with pride “that’s me, baby! Happy Man-entines Day!!!”
***thank God for a wife who doesn’t care about Valentines Day…especially since our 5 year anniversary is next weekend…love you baby! :)***

In conjuction with my previous post, I’d like to add EVERY SONG from the new Future of Forestry CD entitled “Twilight” to the list of songs that glue me to my seat.

Specific “seat glue-ing” tracks would be:
- All I Want
- Speak to Me Gently
- You and I
- Sanctitatus
- If You Find Her
- Gazing
It’s probably the best CD I’ve purchased in quite a few years.
