where to start??? hmmm, lemme see here…
- I’m currently writing this post at 1:44am. In about 7 hrs. I’m supposed to be teaching a “how to incorporate music in your house church” breakout class at a house-church-leader training seminar. This post is serving as a study break…or just a procrastination…not sure yet.
- Tomorrow I get to have lunch with all my fellow praise band mates and talk through all the cool stuff God is putting in front of our team. It’s kinda big stuff…lots of changes…but so good. I’m really excited!
- Monday, I’m moving offices…to the office next door. hah, yes, I’m being serious.
- My brother, Jason, and his wife, Rachel, have a baby that is due any day now. I can’t wait to meet my little niece, but honestly, I’m more excited to see my brother become a father. He’s gonna be such a cool dad!
- At the end of this month, my band and I get to hang out with a bunch of college students for a weekend. I am really looking forward to jammin’ with my boys again. It’s such a blessing every time. Hopefully, we’ll all be a little more like Jesus afterwards.
- The day that we get back from the college weekend, we start the next round of praise band auditions at Apex. It’s been a year since our last round so this will probably be a big one.
- One week after the auditions, I will officially “go under the knife” for the first time in my life. Yes folks, it’s true. I, 27 yr. old Phillip Wing, am having a tonsillectomy and uvulectomy. Apparently, this surgery is most common on kids, but as people get older, it makes this a more invasive type of procedure. Basically, I have to have my tonsils removed as well as an extra “thing” on my uvula removed. I’ll have a week of down time (apparently with a lot of discomfort), followed by 2-3 more weeks of no singing. I’m gonna go crazy. I’ve been told that my “quality of life” will be much better afterwards though. My tonsils are preventing me the proper of amount of oxygen that my body needs and, long term, that could lead to big time heart problems. They are also soaking up a lot of infection so that’s why I’ve been getting sick so often lately. One of the problems that comes with tonsils like mine is AWFUL snoring. I had no idea, but the doc said that snoring is actually quite bad for my health as well. It’s putting undo pressure on my body at night and that is why I can’t ever seem to be “well rested”. I wake up every morning feeling like I’m still exhausted. He seems to think that me breathing better should take care of that. I’m definitely ready to be done with all that business, but still not so excited about being a patient in a hospital for the first time ever. My wife is ready for me to get good rest again (without the mind-numbing snoring). She says she’s seen my exhaustion for well over a year now. This surgery definitely has bad timing, but I look forward to how I may feel afterwards.
- and all of this is going on while we’re trying to sell our house.
so this month will probably go by quite quickly.
