My top 5 results in order:
1. Huckabee
2. Edwards
3. Romney
4. McCain
5. Clinton

That kinda made me laugh a bit…I mean, I knew I’d line up most with Huckabee. He’s the man, in my opinion. But honestly, I figured Obama would be the democrat I lined up with most…interesting.

Amber and I go in spurts when it comes to renting movies. We’ll go a month without watching any and then the next month we’ll watch 5. It just kinda depends on the mood we’re in I guess. Well, lately, we’ve been on one of our movie kicks. Here’s my thoughts on some of the ones we’ve rented recently:

once Once - this movie was great…but mainly because of it’s music. The cool part is that the intention of this movie was the music, not the story. The story isn’t bad, but the music is gorgeous…or “brilliant” as they’d say. It’s an Irish film so they use the “F bomb” like we use the word “like” so that took some adjusting to, but it’s the worst at the beginning, and slows down as the movie progresses. The good part is that live music is roughly 60% of this movie…and this music is really good! They considered getting real actors to do this movie, but they wanted the music to be so real that they just got the real musicians to come play the roles in the movie. Amber and I LOVED the music and we both liked the movie as well. If you’re an indie music type, you’ll probably love this film.

reign over me Reign Over Me - LOVED this movie! It’s probably one of the best movies I’ve seen in the last year! Don Cheadle is always good, no doubt. But even Adam Sandler blew me away in this one. He plays a VERY different role than any other movie he’s ever been in and he nails it. I can’t say enough about this film…go rent it!

3:10 to Yuma 3:10 to Yuma - this is the first western that I’ve actually liked since Tombstone. I usually am not a fan of “western” type movies, but this one was pretty good. Great acting, decent storyline, redemptive yet harsh type of ending. It’s a typical Christian Bale movie. Ya know, kinda cool, kinda dark in story, kinda mysterious, etc. So if you’re a fan of his, you’ll probably like it. He and Russell Crowe do a very convincing job of making it a believable story. I think I like Russell Crowe as a villain, probably better than his typical hero roles.

the Kingdom The Kingdom - I was really impressed with this movie. It had a great cast and was very well written. The worst part of the movie is Jamie Foxx’s mumbling…I mean, seriously, does that guy open his mouth when he talks??? hah. Anyways, it was a touchy subject to do a movie on, but I think they did it well. It’s about the war in Iraq, and specifically the views of those involved, on both sides of the war. Some will hate this movie because it tries to make people see what it’s like on the “other side of the coin”. I personally liked that part of the movie, but to each his own I guess. There was some great, intense action in the film, specifically the big fight at the finale…amazing. So yeah, I liked it and recommend it.

balls of fury Balls of Fury - a LOT funnier than I was expecting. I really like “stupid funny”, and this was definitely that. I laughed out loud quite a few times while watching this one…and so did my wife. Anything with Christopher Walken is usually pretty funny.

rush hour 3 Rush Hour 3 - if you liked the first 2, you’ll like this one. If not, don’t bother. It’s got more “cheese factor” than the first 2, but this one had me laughing quite a bit as well. Chris Tucker is just funny! He could recite the Declaration of Independence and I’d still be rollin’.

Some honorable mentions are:
- Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End - it wasn’t as good as the first 2, but still entertaining.
- Rescue Dawn - another Christian Bale flick. It’s a true story which makes it that much more interesting - about some P.O.W.’s in a prison camp.

Movies I really DIDN’T like:
- Chuck and Larry - TERRIBLE! For such a funny duo, this was boring, stupid, wrong, and poorly done.
- Spider Man 3 - what a bad ending for a good series. I liked the first 2, but the 3rd was just dumb.

So, there ya go…my opinions of a few rentals as of late. Feel free to comment your agreements…or disagreements. :)

I was so excited to read this today…

compassionart

Compassionart hosted an unprecedented gathering of award winning songwriters: Matt Redman, Paul Baloche, Tim Hughes, Graham Kendrick, Steven Curtis Chapman, Israel Houghton, Michael W. Smith, Darlene Zschech, Andy Park, and Martin Smith and Stu Garrard (Delirious?).

Together these songwriters account for at least 40 million albums sold, 76 No. 1 songs, nine GRAMMY Awards, 98 Dove Awards, two Stellar Awards, two American Music Awards, and 78 current CCLI Top 500 songs sung by millions in churches around the world.

(Littlehampton, England) January 14, 2008 – What began as a vision for Delirious? frontman Martin Smith and his wife Anna over a year ago has finally came to fruition this past week. Some of the world’s greatest songwriters were brought together for the Compassionart songwriter’s retreat in an effort to create ongoing global relief for the poorest of the poor. Setting out to write 10-12 songs, these songwriters far surpassed that goal completing 22 new songs during the retreat held last week at the House of Cantle in Perthshire, Scotland. The songs are to be given to the world not just to sing, but also to raise money for the relief of suffering around the planet. One hundred percent of the proceeds derived from the songs will go directly to charity.

“We’ve done it; we just need to record these songs now,” confirms Martin. “It’s been awesome. I’m proud, in awe, exhilarated and tired. Good days, great days.” In addition to the songwriters, the publishers, managers, copyright institutes and agents involved have all waived their rights and are donating their efforts on this project to Compassionart, a charity based in Littlehampton, England that is dedicated to seeing works of art generate income for the poorest of the poor. One half of the monies received over the songs’ lifetimes will go to the songwriters’ charity of choice, and the other 50% will go to a charitable project agreed upon by all the songwriters involved, which is still being discussed.

I always knew my son was smart, but today was a very proud day as a father. He has officially learned to add…in a weird way.

So my 2 1/2 yr. old son, Gibson, is in his car seat riding back from Grammy & Papaws house and Amber, my wife, hears…

Mommy, I farted!!!

Just a few seconds later she hears…

Mommy, I farted again. That makes 2 farts!!!

Yep, my kid is a disgustingly cool genius!

gib's old man face

my precious little daughter is apparently becoming a goat…or a ghost…

I would just like to go on record saying that I think the new Jimmy Eat World CD called “Chase this Light” could quite possibly be their best! I got it as a gift for Amber for Christmas…and now I’ve stolen it from her and can’t stop listening to it.
