we had the pleasure of playing at a great camp called Velocity at the end of June an experience!  First of all, many thanks to Ivan who was kind enough to fill in for Joel who couldn't get the time off work.  Ivan tore it up and we couldn't have been more pleased.

It was a great week!  It's definitely the weirdest camp I've ever been a part of...but amazing nonetheless.  What was weird about it, you may ask?  Well, I've never heard so much talk of puke, poop, pee, and gold bond in my whole life.  Also, what other camp can you go to that has a "dude looks like a lady" competition...yes, it was a cross dressing competition.  What other camp can you go to where they have an "afro" contest?  What other camp can you go to where the leaders will try to frame Ivan as a bad jump-rope-er?  That's right, no other camp!

Musically, we had a lot of fun.  We expirimented with Coldplay and Kelly Clarkson intros.  We taught a few new songs.  There were even people crowdsurfing and hardcore dancing to "Undignified".
Truthfully, God really sustained us.  We were pretty tired all week - not sleeping more than 5 hrs. a night.  We also practiced a LOT!  The first few days, we probably practiced between 7-10 hrs each day.  Needless to say, by Tuesday night, my voice was really hurting.  I was talking like a 60 yr. old smoker.  We would pray each night that God would give us just enough for the service that night... and He did it every time.  As soon as we starting each session, God restored my voice just long enough to make it through, as well as giving us all the energy we needed.

We met lots of good people from all 13 of the churches and it was really a privilege to join them.  We'll remember some of those conversations for a long time to come.  Hopefully we'll get to meet them all again soon.
In the end, I found myself very grateful for the chance to spend a whole week with the guys of the band.  Lots of laughter, lots of Taco Bell, lots of encouragement, and lots of challenge.  What a pleasure!
